Weddings

Random thought for the day - I know most people aren't fans of weddings but I really love anything wedding related. Showers, bachelorette parties, the ceremony, the reception, pictures, everything ♥
I would consider wedding s ahobby so it's topical to this month. It's something I greatly enjoy.
I am looking forward to 2 weeks from today when Scott's sister gets married!
And I am so thankful for the people who have found Scott & me worthy of being invited in the past and the future. It's always an honor to make it on someone's guest list. ♥ They're basically saying that you are important enough to be there. And yeah, it hurts when you aren't invited and thought you should've been and even more when you see people turning down that same person's wedding and in your head you're like, "I would've made you a priority...". But oh well. Whatever's meant to be will be. It happens. But I think the reason it hurts more is because that person is usually effectively saying, I don't really want you in my life anymore. Not always but 99% of the time. And that hurts. (sometimes it's money and sometimes it's that they just want a super small wedding. But even the money thing they are still saying you didn't make the cut).  I hate turning down weddings but we've had several destination ones we couldn't go to for $ reason and a few on the same day that we had to pick one over the other - that is NEVER fun. We really go out of our way to make sure we can be there if invited.
Being able to be there when two people make a commitment to each other is one of my favorite things ever. I tear up at every wedding because even if the ceremony isn't the most intimate/personal, it still involves two people showing how much they love each other. And I love how excited/nervous they both usually are.
I love seeing all of the ideas the couple had and there's always something surprising. I love seeing the wedding gown. I have yet to be to a bad wedding and don't anticipate it happening any time soon. (I also love stalking people's wedding pictures to see all the cool stuff they had/did!)
I actually watch my own wedding videos (yes, plural) like 3-4 times a year. It may be lame but I like looking back on that day and seeing all the people who loved us enough to make time to be there. And to relive all of those awesome moments. We are so grateful for all of you who were able to come. It will always be the best wedding I've ever been to. But that should be true of anyone's own wedding. So I like reliving it often. I look at pictures often too.
I think it's sad when people get married and start focusing only on each other and ignore friends (which happens too often in general). No one can survive with just two people. Scott and I go out of our way to stay connected to friends.
