Black Barbie

My church is doing the Christmas Shoe Box and we picked one up. The boxes are sent throughout the world so when we were in Target looking for a good toy to put in the box, I decided to get a non-white doll. It makes sense. Likely, it won't be going to a white child. Anyways, while shopping in Milford, MA, there were no "ethnic" barbies. No asian, hispanic nor black ones. They had one black big baby doll but that was it. They even had all of the Disney princesses individually but not Tiana. I understand the law of supply and demand and that in different towns, this is probably not the case but I found it very strange that there wasn't even one black barbie. African Americans, Asians and Latinos live in this area. I'm sure there is some demand, albeit maybe small, for non-white barbies. And I'm not talking about the one tan barbie I happened to buy because it was the closest thing to what I wanted. And I highly doubt they were sold out of all of the other races. I just find it very strange. If I were not white, I would want a non-white barbie. I know there is more I could've done - like not bought any barbie or complained to management but I was on a deadline and truly wanted to make a child's Christmas so I am here writing about it which isn't the most productive thing to do. But I just needed to write about this because it disturbs me. I probably will end up doing something more than this.
