My first day as a teacher at NHS was 6 years ago today (technically orientation was August 14, 2006). It seems crazy to me that I will be starting my 7th year at NHS. I still remember that first day and how nervous I was. Things have changed immensely since that first day. I love how it is now.
I like to go back the week before and set up my room. Here it was before I touched it:
And here it is as of now. It's 95% done. I am going in tomorrow to finish up.
This bulletin board still needs a quote over it.
This one is done.
My desk is pretty much all done.
The wall next to me is starting to fill up. It gets crazy full by the end of the year.
Journals section is all set up.
I added a new section (I googled new ideas) for a section about me.
Here are all my handouts for the first few weeks.
And finally, every single year I've given each student a journal to keep in class. They are mostly used but we use them almost every day. There is the pile.
So I feel pretty ready to go but you know me and anxiety... Not feeling too hot right now. I get to meet my students tomorrow at a BBQ so that should help a little. But until the first 2-3 days are over, I'm generally a ball of nerves that doesn't sleep.
