Blogging

Hmmmm. So. For nine years I had a blog over at Livejournal and I decided to make it into a book like the other ones. And I got this message.
Nineteen hundred entries?!? Yikes. I mean I know I've always liked to blog but daaaaamn.

I don't like to physically write (that's a story in an of itself which I'll write at the bottom if you are interested) and will do a lot to avoid writing with pens/pencils if I can so blogging appeals to me. (I even tried vlogging for awhile). I've always been wary of just having it in a word document - what if the computer crashes and I lose everything?

And I decided long ago to not keep it private because I strongly believe that we learn from each other in life and if my ramblings help even one person, then it's worth it. I've gotten a handful of comments form random people about my blogs over the years and it leads me to believe that even though it's hard for me to write about some tough stuff I'm going through, in the end it's worth it.

I also like how I can look back on everything that's occurred and all that I've prayed for and seen how my prayers have been answered. Even if it wasn't exactly when I wanted it to be.

I know some people might think I'm putting "too much" out there but we're all different and this works for me and I will likely continue to blog for the rest of my life unless something easier comes along.

And now for the why I don't like writing with a pen/pencil. Skip this if you couldn't care less, pelase. Ok, so... in 6th grade I was awesome at rollerblading and ice skating. I practiced every day  and had a "routine" to music that I made myself. I am sure I looked like an absolute JACKASS to anyone watching but I thought I was great. I had a friend over one day (this is the same friend that likely gave me mono which I had for four years... I'm not sure I've ever written about that but that's ALSO a good story). Anyways, I wanted to show him my routine and in the process some mulch ended up on the driveway and I tripped and fell on my right (writing) wrist, breaking it. When I went to the hospital, they missed the break but I was in a lot of pain so they said it was probably a bad sprain. For three years I struggled to write, constantly in agony and no one believed me since the X-rays showed nothing. So in 9th grade I begged my parents to take me back to the hospital and get it re-X-rayed. This time it showed not only was it broken but it had been broken for three years and the bone had died... meaning I would suffer for the rest of my life if I didn't get a bone transplant. So they took some bone from my hip and put it in my wrist bla bla bla. But basically, while it hurt to write, I didn't do much of it and when I did write, I had to find ways to hold a writing utensil so it wouldn't hurt and as a result I have horrible hand writing and honestly, it still hurts to write. I also taught myself how to painstaking write perfectly in different "fonts" and took a course in calligraphy which helped strengthen my hand. So I whip that out on occasion  So I learned to type which is also why I am super fast at it. Not especially accurate but definitely fast. Ok enough about that.

The mono story? I'll make it as short as possible. Basically, I used to be really good at soccer. I played sweeper for 13 years. Was on varsity in 8th grade (private school). It was double sessions time in August in 9th grade. A month prior I went to a party where we played spin the bottle... I got mono. I decided to not take care of myself when the doctor told me I couldn't play sports and that I should stay home and rest. I didn't miss a day of school that first term and I stuck it out through most of double sessions before keeling over. Apparently when you don't take care of mono, it turns into this noncontagious form of itself that sticks around for as long as it damn well pleases called Ep Stein Barr. For me, it was 4 years. Had I not taken further care of myself I could've would've gotten lupus... and possibly died. So... moral? Don't mess around with mono.

Ok, enough blogging for today.
